Here’s contest puzzle #9.

Note that this month’s puzzle is unusually wide (53 columns, to be exact), so we’ve had to make some modifications to the usual format. We highly recommend you use the PDF or the online solver this month.

• The PDF is 3 pages, with the grid on the first page and clues on pages 2 and 3.
• Since Across Lite can’t handle this large a grid, there are two PUZ files (a “left” and a “right”). The left PUZ contains columns 1-30 of the full puzzle, and the right PUZ contains columns 27-53.
  • The overlap between columns 27-30 is so that each entry appears in complete form in at least one of the PUZ files.
  • Entries that are cut off in one PUZ file will be clued as [Clued in other PUZ], where they appear in full.
• The online applet (linked below) should work normally.

To reiterate, we strongly encourage solvers to use either the PDF or the online applet this month instead of the PUZ files to avoid potential confusion.
